Professor at the Medizinische Fakultät of the Universität Duisburg-Essen and researcher of the Westdeutsches Protonentherapiezentrum Essen, in Germany. His current research activities are related with the simulation of complex radiotherapy and dosimetry problems, both with conventional and proton beams. He is the author of the penEasyLinac code and of several variance-reduction techniques. He has also worked in the field of quantum Monte Carlo in condensed matter physics for the study of low temperature systems.
